Carriers are the Artist In Residence for the Month of June at THE COMET!
Built around Curt Kiser's sincere and dreamy songwriting, Carriers are a new indie rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio. Their debut singles "Daily Battle" and "Peace of Mine" were released on May 11 digitally and on cassette via Old Flame Records. Kiser (ex-Pomegranates, Enlou) was joined in the studio by Bryan Devendorf of The National and John Curley of The Afghan Whigs

Cincinnati CityBeat called "Peace of Mine” “an earthy ye...t dreamily ethereal gem (sounding a bit like Tom Petty fronting a smoky, psychedelic Dream Pop band)”
The Revue says “The warmth of “Daily Battle” elicits feelings of hope yet hints of hard-earned wisdom. (Lyrics like “I need to know that I have risen” indicate a maturity often lacking in indie rock.) Fans of Strand of Oaks will appreciate the seamless blend of lyrical honesty and rich instrumentation here, as Carriers frontman Curt Kiser (formerly of Pomegranates) seems cut from the same cloth as Timothy Showalter. Likewise, fans of The National will appreciate that drummer Bryan Devendorf is working with Carriers on their upcoming debut album, as is The Afghan Whigs’ John Curley. Is it too soon to add these guys to our Favorite Discoveries of 2018 list?”
Atlas and the Anchor said, “Kiser has crafted an intriguing sound, mixing hypnotic heartland rock and ethereal dream-pop in the vein of The War On Drugs. Stay tuned for more from this emerging band!”
Their forthcoming debut album is carefully layered, leaning on strong core songwriting, hypnotic synths, lush guitar tones from Curt Kiser, mesmerizing percussion delivered by Bryan Devendorf, and nuanced, dynamic bass lines from John Curley.
While Bryan and John aren’t in the band, a solid group consisting of Cory Pavlinac(guitar), Trent Becknell(Bass), Alex McGrath(Drums) and Ashley Tuthill McGrath(Keys) have been gigging regularly and are truly spectacular. Even though they are only getting started they have already been making some noise regionally having shared the stage with Damien Jurado, Big Thief, Sam Evian, the dove & the wolf, Harpooner and more. They just wrapped up an April tour with dates alongside Kyle Craft (Subpop) & a hometown show with Anna Burch (Polyvinyl Record Company).
We will be joined by great friends & new friends every tuesday during the month!
Thanks Paul Coors for the invite to this very special Cincinnati event.
